First Sunny Day of the Year
Saturday. Weird mood, with a strange fog hanging over the Valley.
I had met the founder of one of the most successful startups in town yesterday. Athletic triathlete, a 17 on OLH. (If you don’t know what that means, it’s 17 minutes up Old La Honda). He inspired me to get up and get riding.
First a ride to the coffee shop on Hollenbeck and Homestead. There I saw the Spectrum group departure location for the first time. It was a small crowd, actually, and it more than doubles on its way to Arastradero.
Then the gym, and there I just couldn’t hold back. I drove home as fast as I legally could, donned my Lemond jersey and was on Foothill for a wonderful ride. Nothing broke today, it was just a little too chilly, but I was rewarded with the first smell of mimosa (around Santa Maria, if I recall right).
It’s almost time for the first spring rides! I can’t believe it!
And now the other piece of news: I am moving back to the city, and I have no idea how it is going to affect my riding. Can’t be less than right now, can it?
